About IconAbout Dr. Pankaj Goel

Throughout my two-decade journey in cardiothoracic surgery, I have honed my skills through training and practice in esteemed institutions both nationally and internationally. Over the years, I have personally conducted more than 5000 adult and pediatric cardiac procedures, encompassing Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting, valve replacements, and repairs, as well as Maze procedures for atrial arrhythmias. Additionally, I have acquired proficiency in various video-assisted thoracoscopic procedures (VATS).

During my tenure at Royal Perth Hospital, I contributed to the heart and lung transplant team, participating in over 20 left ventricular assist device implantations and heart and lung transplants. Presently serving as the Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at a renowned multispecialty hospital in Amritsar, I oversee a robust caseload of 40-45 cases monthly. The majority, accounting for 85%, consists of coronary procedures, predominantly performed on the beating heart. The remaining 15% comprises a diverse range of surgeries including valve interventions, aortic dissection and aneurysm repairs, congenital procedures, vascular, and thoracic surgeries.

My areas of special expertise and interest encompass OPCAB Surgery, Mitral valve repair, Atrial Arrhythmia Surgery (MAZE procedure), and VATS procedures including lung volume reduction. Notably, I have been instrumental in establishing cardiac surgery in Amritsar, with a focus on tackling complex cases, thereby placing the city prominently on the global map of cardiac care excellence.
